Schedule a Visa Interview
In order to travel to the U.S., you must schedule a visa appointment to obtain your F-1 or J-1 visa. Follow the steps below to schedule an appointment.
Contact the Nearest U.S. Consulate to Schedule a Visa Appointment
A list of consulates is available at: http://www.usembassy.gov/.
You will need to review the student handbook you received with your visa document and review requirements specific to the U.S. Consulate where you will have your interview. We recommend that you read the Frequently Asked Questions [FAQ] about Student Visas at: http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1268.html.
Be Prepared for Your Interview
This will be short conversation and a review of your documents. Be sure you are able to explain why you want to study in the U.S. and why this is important for your future career. Don't get nervous, this is apart of the process.
Make Travel Arrangements
Once you receive your visa, make arrangements to travel to the U.S. Please keep in mind that you will not be able to enter the U.S. prior to 30 days of the start date of your program, unless you are already an F-1/J-1 Student in the U.S. and have returned home to visit during the summer.
