The following alerts will be removed from the website when they are no longer effective.

Swine Flu Updates (4/28/2009): For up-to-date information about the swine flu, please visit the UCI Environmental, Health, & Safety website.

(4/30/2009): Regarding Visa Appointments: The U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Mexico have cancelled non-immigrant visa services between April 28 and May 5. The Consulate will contact those that had appointments with information about rescheduling.

TRAVEL ALERT FOR MEXICO (3/9/2009)

The U.S. Department of State has issued a travel alert for Mexico.  International students and scholars have been informed to review this information carefully, especially if  they have plans to travel to Mexico during Spring Break.

For travel safety tips see the U.S. Department of State Web Site. While this page is designed for Americans traveling abroad, it contains practical advice for any traveler.

International students and scholars should keep in mind that if they need any assistance because of an emergency while abroad, they must contact the consulate of their home government (not the US Consulate), and must contact the International Center if they have difficulty returning to the U.S.

IMPORTANT UPDATE (3/4/2009): Students and scholars have experienced a significant delay in obtaining visas due to security clearance checks. If you plan to travel and need to apply for a new visa, be prepared to wait 8-10 weeks. UCI or the International Center is unable to speed up this process. Make your plans accordingly and discuss your travel plans with your Academic Departments.
